At Benton Franklin Physical Therapy, our experienced occupational therapy team is dedicated to helping patients achieve or regain the ability to function independently in their daily lives. Occupational Therapy Services


Our occupational therapists use a range of therapeutic approaches to restore and enhance the living skills of every patient, helping them resume their daily routines such as toileting, grooming, bathing, dressing, cooking, and working.


Specific services include:

  • Evaluation and treatment of cognitive function
  • Evaluation and treatment of visual perception
  • Evaluation and treatment of ocular motor function
  • Community reintegration skills, including money management, shopping, and the use of public transportation
  • Training for activities of daily living, including self-care and homemaking
  • Assessing safety for independent living
  • Hand therapy — splinting, controlled range of motion exercises, and edema control
  • Work conditioning to prepare for returning to a daily work regimen
  • Pre-vocational evaluation focusing on hand function, work skills, and simple work tasks
  • Home evaluations to determine home accessibility, helpful modifications, and supportive equipment needs

RODNEY KUMP, DPT

Physical & Occupational Therapy

Rod graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology. He then attended Creighton University and graduated in 1998 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Rod joined Benton Franklin Orthopedic Associates in 2002. He enjoys all areas of orthopedic physical therapy with a special interest in sports medicine. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and belongs to Orthopedic and Sports sections.


Rod lives in Kennewick with his wife, Heidi, and his daughters, Ashley, Emily, Erin and Sarah. He enjoys spending time with his family, running, basketball and reading.





JOSH GILBERTSON, MOTR/L, GTS

Physical & Occupational Therapy

Josh received his Master of Occupational Therapy degree from the University of North Dakota. He has recently pursued his career and clinical interest in hand upper extremity rehabilitation. He completed his internships at Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute, Golden Valley, MN; Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN; and Park Nicolet Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park, MN. His next step is to obtain his Certified Hand Therapist credentials. In addition to clinical work, Josh enjoys sports, cooking, live music and listening to his vinyl records.
