Benton Franklin Orthopedic Associates Announces Groundbreaking Study by Dr. Joshua Dworkin
Kennewick, WA – April 16, 2025 – Benton Franklin Orthopedic Associates is proud to announce the publication of a significant multidisciplinary international scholarly study led by Dr. Joshua Dworkin. The study, titled "Load Transmission via the Supraspinatus Cord Prevents Muscle Fatty Degeneration: A Biomechanical Study," was published on February 19, 2025.
Brief Description of the Study:
Dr. Joshua Dworkin, along with a team of esteemed researchers, has conducted an in-depth biomechanical study exploring the role of load transmission via the supraspinatus cord in preventing muscle fatty degeneration. This research provides valuable insights into the mechanisms that protect muscle integrity and function, particularly in the context of shoulder injuries and degenerative conditions. Who Is Dr. Josh Dworkin
Dr. Joshua Dworkin is a renowned orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and elbow surgery. He is the Tri-Cities' only fellowship-trained shoulder and elbow sub-specialist, bringing a unique and highly specialized skill set to the community. Dr. Dworkin's dedication to advancing orthopedic research and providing exceptional patient care is evident in his numerous contributions to the field.
Dr. Josh Dworkin has an impressive and distinguished background in orthopedic surgery. He served in the United States Army and completed his orthopedic surgical residency training at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI. During his residency, Dr. Dworkin provided care for service members from the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard, and was actively involved in research across all orthopedic sub-specialties.
Following his residency, Dr. Dworkin served as an active-duty orthopedic surgeon at Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital (BJACH) in Fort Polk, LA. While at Fort Polk, he held the position of Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at BJACH, where he was responsible for the care of soldiers, their families, and retirees. His dedication to his patients and his leadership in the field of orthopedics have been exemplary.
Dr. Dworkin is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and has published multiple orthopedic research papers. He is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. Notably,
Dr. Dworkin joins Benton Franklin Orthopedic Associates with his wife and two children. Outside of his professional commitments, he enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, going to the beach, football, and wrestling. His passion for both his work and his family is evident in everything he does.
