Chronic joint pain can significantly impact your quality of life, making everyday activities challenging and uncomfortable. Understanding Chronic Joint Pain

Chronic joint pain is a persistent discomfort in the joints that lasts for months or even years. It can result from various conditions, including:

  • Osteoarthritis: The most common form of arthritis, caused by the wear and tear of cartilage.
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis: An autoimmune disorder that causes inflammation in the joints.
  • Gout: A form of arthritis characterized by sudden, severe attacks of pain, redness, and tenderness in the joints.
  • Injuries: Previous injuries to the joints can lead to chronic pain over time.

Symptoms of Chronic Joint Pain

The symptoms of chronic joint pain can vary but often include:

  • Persistent Pain: Continuous or intermittent pain in the affected joints.
  • Stiffness: Difficulty moving the joint, especially after periods of inactivity.
  • Swelling: Inflammation and swelling around the joint.
  • Reduced Range of Motion: Limited ability to move the joint fully.

Treatment Options

At Benton Franklin Orthopedic Associates, we offer a range of treatment options tailored to each patient's needs. Our goal is to reduce pain, improve function, and enhance the overall quality of life.

Treatment options may include:

  • Medications: Pain relievers, anti-inflammatory drugs, and disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) to manage symptoms.
  • Physical Therapy: Exercises and therapies to strengthen the muscles around the joints, improve flexibility, and reduce pain.
  • Interventional Procedures: Techniques such as joint injections and nerve blocks to provide targeted pain relief.
  • Lifestyle Modifications: Recommendations for weight management, diet, and activity modifications to reduce joint stress and improve overall health.
